Now that quarantine is over the fire has been reignited for our goat packing! Slowly though, now that everyone is back to pasture potato physique and all of those weekly conditioning hikes have ceased. I have chosen to spend some extra time with one of the youngest, Kingsley. He wears the kid pack well while we stroll around the neighborhood and grab the mail on our way back. He has a major flight response to cars which drives me nuts but we are working on it via exposure. Honestly, Kingsley is a weirdo, mostly sweet, and we love him. His future halter came in the mail from sopris, it's a beautiful royal blue that is one size too big yet. I'm sure since he's only 7 months and 85 pounds he will get up to a size 4/5 halter.
I also received a tiny, itty bitty halter for Rafiki, and Bagheera. It's a size 2 and will fit Rafiki maybe indefinitely but my bigger motive is to work with Bagheera. He hasn't had any lead training and 3 1/2 months old now. I find much clearer communication through halter, as well as less harm to themselves by pulling. Maybe I will snag a video of Bagheera's first haltering session as I'm assuming he may be the "thrash around and throw a fit" type. At his young age he's already 60 pounds! He's going to be a big guy.
We hope to get everyone into the woods in the next few weeks as everything continues to settle down.
If your looking to get your goat a halter I highly suggest sopris, they fit really nice and give very clear communication. You can find them here, www.soprisgoats.com/goatx.html
